Buy Side Research Technology Consultant Needed Immediately in Chicago


We are a management consulting firm and I have a 6 – 18 week project in Chicago, that could go longer, for one of our financial services clients.  Ideally, I’m looking for someone with significant business experience in the buy-side Research function (global experience preferred) including the quantitative function.   Looking for specific project-based experience leading and implementing buy-side research technology efforts.

This person will review and document existing tools, processes, and pain points while leading high level discussions with the Research/PM Management team to establish the vision and define core objectives.  This person will also foster discussions by providing examples of what others are doing and/or setup high level demos with leading vendors.  Will actively lead discussions with the quantitative team,   as well as lead discussions with selected analysts and portfolio managers to ensure a complete understanding of needs are being met and facilitated.  Ideally, this person will have recent experience with relevant technology offerings in this space coupled with strong technology skills and outstanding project management skills.   This individual must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as they will be communicating to all levels within the organization.

Multiple Openings - Full time in Chicago and/or East Coast - Business Analysts, Consultants, Project Managers, and Managers - Must have prior consulting experience, prefer Big 4 experience

Required Skills / Experience: 

Must have minimum 2-5 years of solid business systems analysis and/or re-engineering solutions consulting experience with demonstrated career progression of at least 2 years preferably at a Big 5, mid tier OR specialty business technology solutions consulting firm. 

              Ideal technical competencies would be people with solid experience and demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: Web application / services development, business application development, enterprise application development.   NOTE:  Preference for custom development over   packaged software/systems customization and/or implementation experience.   
              Education:  Undergrad degree demonstrating analytical strengths: I.E. Major in math, computer science, engineering, physics, accounting/finance or statistics
              Exhibits visible passion and demonstrated top performance in problem solving related to technical areas of work to solve business problems.
              Full life cycle project development experience (SDLC) of mid to large, complex business systems designed to consolidate and/or streamline costs out of existing business systems.
              History of quickly learning and mastering new technologies and an ongoing desire to learn more.  
              Prefer people with broad technical skills over people who have deep expertise in one technology or solution application development. 
              Experience developing detailed business systems requirements for application delivery projects in a client service context
              Ability to define and execute own phase of work with the Business Requirements area; self-driven & self-sufficient with appropriate guidance from leadership at touch-points
              Demonstrated examples of assertiveness of knowing when to go beyond the obvious to address all possible systems requirements data questions in order to minimize project budget risk on fixed bid engagements. 
              Demonstrated examples of a formal approach to setting up a new engagement – data gathering through requirements definition.
              Must be able to gather and produce detailed technical systems requirements docs that can effectively be communicated to technical team including roles etc.  
              Formal consulting experience as a member of small or large requirements teams, gathering and analyzing data, preparing for key status meetings etc.
              Ability to interface effectively with business & IT stakeholders of the organization in deriving, clarifying or reviewing business requirements related project matters


Desired Skills:
              Formal software development methodology experience a plus
              Custom application development project experience
              Analytical/ problem solving / testing experience or related background
              Some experience / exposure successfully scoping engagement deliverables and time estimates in support of fixed bid proposals supporting business development efforts

Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, economics or similar field
Professional Certification Preferred: CRMP, CRCMP, CPA, PMP, Six Sigma, etc. a plus
Must have consulting experience
